Bureau of Meteorology Atmospheric Regional Reanalysis for Australia - Version 1 (BARRA)

The Bureau of Meteorology high-resolution Regional Reanalysis for Australia (BARRA) is a high-resolution multi-decadal regional atmospheric reanalysis. The reanalysis provides information about surface conditions (such as temperature, precipitation, wind speed and direction, humidity, evaporation and soil moisture), information on multiple pressure and model levels, and information on solar radiation and cloud cover. The reanalysis suite is based on the Australian Community Climate Earth-System Simulator (ACCESS) and extends 70 levels (up to 80 km) into the atmosphere. Data coverage

It is nested within the required boundary and/or initial conditions provided by ERA-Interim reanalysis, Operational SST and Sea Ice Analysis, and the Bureau offline soil moisture reanalysis. The region covered by the reanalysis is the Australian continent, and the surrounding region including parts of southeast Asia, New Zealand, and south to the ice edge of the Antarctic continent. The suite contains 5 datasets. The "regional" dataset contains about 100 parameters, available at hourly time steps at approximately 12-km resolution. The 4 "subdomain" datasets, (South-West Western Australia, South Australia, Eastern New South Wales, and Tasmania), are dynamically downscaled analyses at 1.5-km resolution. These have been developed using multiple convective-scale (1.5-km) downscaling analyses driven by the 12-km system. It can be used for weather and climate research, case studies of past weather events, studying climate variability. BARRA includes: - BARRA-R (Regional) Product: BARRA-R is a moderate-resolution (12 km) regional reanalysis over Australia and the surrounding regions. The data set includes hourly data for temperature, moisture, wind and flux variables at sub-surface, surface, and pressure levels, and heights above surface. - BARRA-AD (Adelaide) Product: Downscaled (1.5km) regional atmospheric reanalysis over South Australia centred at Adelaide. - BARRA-PH (Perth) Product: Downscaled (1.5km) regional atmospheric reanalysis over south-western Western Australia at Perth. - BARRA-SY (Sydney) Product: Downscaled (1.5km) regional atmospheric reanalysis over eastern New South Wales including Sydney. - BARRA-TA (Tasmania) Product: Downscaled (1.5km) regional atmospheric reanalysis over Tasmania.

(EXPERIMENTAL) NOAA FourCastNet Global Forecast System (FourCastNetGFS) (EXPERIMENTAL)

The FourCastNet Global Forecast System (FourCastNetGFS) is an experimental system set up by the National Centers for Environmental Prediction (NCEP) to produce medium range global forecasts. The model runs on a 0.25 degree latitude-longitude grid (about 28 km) and 13 pressure levels. The model produces forecasts 4 times a day at 00Z, 06Z, 12Z and 18Z cycles. Major atmospheric and surface fields including temperature, wind components, geopotential height, relative humidity and 2 meter temperature and 10 meter winds are available. The products are 6 hourly forecasts up to 10 days. The data format is GRIB2. The FourCastNetGFS...

10m Annual Land Use Land Cover (9-class)

This dataset, produced by Impact Observatory, Microsoft, and Esri, displays a global map of land use and land cover (LULC) derived from ESA Sentinel-2 imagery at 10 meter resolution for the years 2017 - 2024. Each map is a composite of LULC predictions for 9 classes throughout the year in order to generate a representative snapshot of each year. This dataset was generated by Impact Observatory, which used billions of human-labeled pixels (curated by the National Geographic Society) to train a deep learning model for land classification. Each global map was produced by applying this model to the Sentinel-2 annual scene...
